Goals

Hey Guys Good Morning,

I wanted to drop a quick note. Often many of us set goals and keep those goals hidden within our inner core. We may achieve those goals, but we may also fall short of meeting them (Which is OK). I've often felt that if I lay it all out there, and I happen to not fulfill my goals, then it's egg on my face (in front of everyone).

But I'm tired of that. I think I want to be held more accountable for the promises that I make myself. I might not quite get there, but I'll be pretty damn close. So here's to really putting it out there. I'm speaking it, so that it will manifest, and return to me through the universe, lol.

Ok, so my first vanity goal is my hair. By the end of this year, I want to be able to put it in a pony tail, without any manipulation, like gel etc...

Second goal, I'm really interested in getting a professional degree. What do I mean by that? I have a degree in Mathematics, however that is not specific to a profession, such as Engineering, Accounting, Actuarial Science, yadda yadda, the list goes on. I've been working in the industry (Human Resources, Pensions- specifically) for nearly three 3 years. I totally see the advantages of going to school, and obtaining a professional degree. I'll go more in-depth with this topic in future posts.

Third goal is obtaining a Masters. I definitely am working on a professional degree, but have a personal goal to obtain a Masters in Statistics. Its just one of those things that I need to do.

Fourth goal is to take this blog to the next level. What does that mean, who knows? I'm going to try to be very candid, I'd like to be more consistent...We will leave it at that.

So I've put it out there, and am putting the work on all fronts to get there....Lets see how this journey goes!

Fall Wardrobe (Tuesday Series 6)

Ready for fall... Not sure what to do???

Hey guys, it's about that time where the weather has begun to shift. Especially if your in the states, the Midwest and East Coast for sure. Now transitioning from Spring to Summer, isn't quite as drastic as transitioning from Summer to Fall (usually).

So the question is, how do you prepare for this transition. Truth be told, I want to look fabulous irregardless of the season, and I want to be comfortable.  Start off with your shoes. That's something I always fall short on. Make sure you have appropriate and comfortable shoes for the season and weather (More emphasis on the weather). I'd say in the Midwest, the time to retire flip flops, has come. You can definitely do sandals, although peep toes just work better. Just add some tights. I'd suggest the thicker more textured tights.

With that being said, I'm boot girl. I love boots. I'm a knee high boot gal, to be specific. I personally can never have enough pairs. Boots for me are a perfect staple piece to transition from Summer to Fall. With my boots, I'd take my fave summer dresses, add some tights and a sweater if needed, and I'm set to go.

So boots are definitely one quick stylish way to update you wardrobe for the Fall.

Dash into Fall

In continuation with the splash of celebrity lines... I have to talk about the Kardashian line at Sears. There's been a bit of buzz around it, and I love Khloe. So I had to check it out. Got to say, it was a flop. I tried to convince myself otherwise, but every dress I tried on, either had a zipper that was stuck or completely broken.

Beyond that, the fit was awkward. So after about an hour and a half at Sears, I left with some hosiery, and a white button down, lol.

Switching gears, the best bang for your buck, is the JLO line at Kohls. The quality of the material, the fit, the style, is amazing!

A bit random...but this is how I spent my Sunday!

Mossimo

Please Excuse the nearly week long delay in posts. I've been so tired, lol. But hey, Sleep is for the dead, I better live. (Listening to Toni Braxtons Let it Flow, by the way... All I need is a glass of White wine and I'm set)

Lets get right in to it. With the downfall of the Economy, there's been a surge of celebrities, and designers creating fashion lines for the masses, the consumer. So I would say, that they are catering to the mid market- no research behind this, but essentially not high-end but not Walmartesque (although some lines have come close to it).

Some recent lines- JLo, Missoni for Target, Christian Siriano, and of Course the Kardashians. So I had to go check out some of these lines. I was super excited, because shopping gives me an opportunity to interact with my fav celebs or designers through their work. I watch the Kardashians, so I love Khloe. She rocks!

Now I started my day, or should I say evening at Target (Tarjeeee). It had been a while, since I was last there.  I went in looking for the Missoni line, and found some pieces. But the Bike by far was the best!

Beyond the bike, what struck me, was the Mossimo line (I knoooooow, I suck, ha). But I really was attracted to all their pieces for their fall line. I actually spent nearly 3 hours (I'm shy to say the real number, not really), trying on different pieces. In fact the only reason, I left was because the store was closing. My initial plan was to start off at Target and then head off to Sears. That did not happen. In fact, not only did I stay there but I splurged. I picked up 4 jeans, under 30 a piece, a pair of black pants and assortment of sweaters, peasant tops, and turtle necks.

For the most part I jujed up my wardrobe with some basic pieces, brighter colors, and tried to add a little bit more variety. So Kudos to Mossimo, I had a blast!

Ok so I've been bad... I got a pair of strappy shoes from Neimans....

LBD Wedding

Hey Guys, this is how I wore this dress.

I kept it simple with my black pumps. I jazzed it up with a funky set of pearls, a cocktail ring, and a pair of Amethyst stone earrings.

LBD (Tuesday Challenge series 4)

Good Morning!

So its Wednesday, but this is the Tuesday challenge. I'm listening to Neon Trees, Animal in the background. I love this song.

So here's the challenge. Lets dress up our LBD (little black dress). Recently I purchased this black dress at Kohls (Please excuse the spelling in the last post...).

I totally love this dress because of its versatility. I know that I can get at least 4 different looks from this dress combined with some accessories.  I'm going to go for a formal look for a wedding, a work outfit, casual look, and a playful date look. Lets see how it goes. I think there are more then four looks, but hey that's all I got, lol. I'll post the first look by next week Wednesday.

So, whats up with theses "so's", lol. This challenge is in 2 parts. The first will be finding your little black dress, and creating the four looks mentioned above. The second part of this challenge is in building a richer wardrobe on a Kohls/Walmart budget, ha. Now the Walmart budget might be a little trickier. But doesn't hurt to try.

Here's how this one came about. I was speaking to my girlfriend Kimmy, and telling her about my shopping experience at Kohls. I mentioned to her, that I love the new Jennifer Lopez line at Kohls, because it was richer in every aspect of the word, and didn't look like I got it from Kohls. She goes what's wrong with buying it from Kohls. I go nothing, but I want to look like I've been shopping at Neimans.

How do we achieve this. I live in the Midwest, Milwaukee to be exact. 60 miles away from Chicago. So the selections here are a bit limited. We have Macys, Boston Store, Kohls, Target, TJ Max, a decent number of thrift stores, some boutiques etc... What I've noticed is that we don't have those mid priced designer stores such as Loehmann's, Annie Sez, Filene's Basement, you get the gist. Those chains, offer designer brands but at a more obtainable price. To me having a combination of all these type of stores and the higher-end stores in one market is truly what makes a New York, or Chicago. So we don't have that guys lol.

What we do have are some awesome thrift stores. Here's where the Walmart budget comes to play. There's an awesome boutique in Madison, that sells a mixture of old and new, and items on consignment. There I bought my first DVF blazer. Under 20 bucks, truth be told under 10. I still have that blazer, and always get compliments from it. In fact I've featured that blazer in my past posts.

What we're going to do is make lemonade out of lemons. We got to start with our basics. The basic pieces of our wardrobe. You have to have a solid foundation to build on... to be continued

See ya next Tuesday or Wednesday...

Things I've been really into this month- GLAMOUR!
