Skinny Fat Girl

Hey Guys- Happy Easter!

So I headed to the outlets this weekend with my Girl Akos. I went there with the intentions to get some Bras, shoes and slacks. I wound up getting some Bras, four dresses, and a pair of slacks. I had no clue Woodbury Commons had a Max Studio there. But truth be told, what don't they have there, lol. I loved their ( Max Studios) dresses and loved their Slacks. Their Skinny leg trousers did me no justice, but worked out for Akos.

So onto the topic at hand. Skinny Fat Girl? What's that. According to Akosua- since this is her term, a Skinny Fat Girl, is a lady who is not considered plus size, but is also not a super model with 0 percent body fat. Say what.

So, Akosua, my Sis and I would all fall into that range, as would a plethora of women, of varying sizes.

So, who cares?
Well, with us Skinny Fat Girls, we sometimes get caught up. We tend to follow more of the Super Model trends then the Plus Size Model trends. As a Skinny Fat Girl, we need to wear things that are appropriate for our figures. That includes having great coverage, and support when needed.

1. Know your body. What shape do you have? Whats works best on your figure. I have an hour glass figure, with a little extra on the bottom. but since my waist is smaller, I have more of an hourly figure then a pair shaped figure.
For me this can be hell. Because I'm always trying to dress myself for my 17 year old figure, where I was relatively straight, and not as curvy. What I have realized (Thank you Akosua), is that an A line dress works best on me, and any dress that cinches in at the waist, and falls a little loosely on my hips. For me accentuating my waist, gives me more of a proportioned look. Times where I don't do that, I look like this below. Womp Womp, lol.

This look would have been a lot cleaner, and proportioned if I had added a belt to this outfit.

2. Body Shapers- HELLO. They are not just for size 24's. Listen, a body shaper is just as the name implies. It accentuates your shape in a Good way. Beyond that it smoothens everything. This is umber important. When you wear a body shaper, it creates a nice smooth look. It's polished and finished. Trust me, whether your a size 2 or 20, a body shaper is necessary once you reach age 25. If at this point, you don't own one, please go out and buy 2.

3. Slips, also know as petticoats. Unless your going for that J -Lo look everyday, a Slip is an essential. If you own a shear dress, or are purchasing one, and for some reason there is no lining, owning a slip comes in very handy.
I'd say for us Skinny Fat Girls, really understanding your figure and what works best for it is key. Second to that, is having great foundational pieces- Undergarments, Body Shapers, and Hosiery. These go a long way. As a side note, I've really learned how to dress my figure by taking notes from Plus size fashion bloggers.
